Introduction

In the 1800s, the United States grew and changed. It grew larger, reaching from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. Slavery was one of the biggest problems. Because of disagreements over slavery, the nation divided in two. The North and South fought the Civil War. The North won. Slavery ended.
